What Art?1

1) Describe the mood of the image(s)  What is the expression on the faces of the models?  What is their posture?

The models have a serious look on their faces and they may be conveying some type of deep emotion.

2) Think about technique.  How do you imagine these images were created? Oil paint? Photoshop?

The images look like they were created with oil paint but were possibly created in photoshop.

3) Ask yourself what role color plays in the images(?)  Does it accentuate the mood?

In the first color the role color appears to be red and in the second picture the role color appears to be a flesh tone.

4) Finally, what do you think the artist intended to convey with these images?  What response was he/she attempting to evoke?  Do you think the effort was successful?

I think the artist may have trying to convey a deep emotional message because of the realism and expressions in the artist's characters.  I think the artist did a successful job.

It looks like McNally took many pictures to start with using the same lighting and angle but then edited them into squares and created a collage to create this piece.

The image shows what appears to be a man climbing up the face of a woman.  He is standing on her face with a rope that leads out of the frame.  the image is artistic and was made in photoshop.  I believe the meaning behind the image is the man is making the difficult climb up the face to symbolize the lengths he would go for that person.
